The dogs are going to miss it...

A little late on the posting tonight, but I was out in the convertible enjoying the gorgeous afternoon!

This week we said goodbye to the hospital bed! Tristan was able to sleep in his room last night and it feels like a major milestone. Being upstairs again signifies so many things: Freedom from round-the-clock medications, freedom from sleeping at an incline, freedom from excruciating rib and abdominal pain, freedom to move between the first and second floor, freedom to sleep - undisturbed - in a room with the door shut, freedom to feel semi-normal again. Freedom.

Tristan has also done a bit more driving this week and is regaining his confidence with it as things begin to mentally "click" for him. He loves to drive, and the thought of potentially losing that ability, whether due to mental or physical limitations, was very concerning to him. It's wonderful to see him spending some time out and about, enjoying his new car and his friends.

Physically, Tristan still has a very pronounced limp, but he's gaining strength and is trying to move about more without the crutches. He's going to PT 2-3 times a week, and that will continue through at least mid-June. We'll reassess at that time and determine whether he needs more visits. His body has been healing well, but the leg injury was pretty brutal, so it's hard to know what to expect. For now we just focus on the fact that he continues to make steady gains.

This feels like a short post, but there isn't a whole lot to report this week. I know we're planning on spending as much time outside this weekend enjoying the sun, and we hope you all do too!
