To say yes when you mean yes.
To say no when you mean no.
To tell people you love them.
To apologize when you should.
To express gratitude as often as possible.
To remain open to new ideas and points of view.
To continue striving to be a better version of you.
To live your life now, because tomorrow is never guaranteed.
This will be the last blog post, which is a bittersweet thing to say.
It signals that Tristan's body has pieced itself back together well enough that I don't have much to report on a weekly basis, which is wonderful. It also means that I won't be writing to you all on a daily or weekly basis, which leaves me feeling sad.
This journey has been a tough one, and I couldn't have done it without you all. That may sound odd, but while I don't even know many of you, your presence on this blog has given me an outlet for the things that needed to be said and the feelings that couldn't be contained. Knowing that you were checking in to see how Tristan was progressing gave me strength, because I knew we weren't walking this road alone. And while Tristan's journey isn't quite over, I believe you've given us the ability to finish strong.
We thank you all for walking with us. For checking in each week. For your support, words of encouragement, cards, food, texts, gifts, and prayers. We are truly humbled and grateful. Our family was blessed with a miracle in Tristan's survival, but we were also blessed with an amazing outpouring of love and support from you all.
You can find Tristan on Instagram and Snapchat. You also have our address - and my phone number and email - from the earlier posts. I sincerely mean it when I say please keep in touch.
We offer our love and thanks, and wish you all a wonderful (and safe) Memorial Day weekend.
Love: Jon, Catina, Tristan & Corbin
