Visiting hours for the ICU are only from 12:00 - 6:00 PM, and only one of us is allowed in the building each day. Hard for two parents who want to be by the side of their kiddo, to say the least.

I was able to be at his bedside the entire time today, which was an absolute gift. I read to him and told him about all the people who love him and are rooting for him.

There were also a couple of times, when the sedatives were reduced, that he cracked his eyes open and responded, with head nods and hand squeezes, to questions and commands. These were incredible moments! It goes without saying that he’s in immense pain though, so the sedatives are kept at high doses the majority of the time.

Praying his vitals stay stable enough that his abdominal and leg surgeries can be done tomorrow.

Oh, Mama... How good to know he knows you are there. He's a strong kid. He has a loving family, friends who are cheering for him, a wonderful medical staff, and his mom by his side. He's got this.
